Diagnosis and classification of autoimmune blistering diseases.
Blistering skin diseases are a group of autoimmune disorders that are characterized by autoantibodies against structural proteins of the epidermis or the dermal-epidermal junction and clinically by blisters and erosions on skin and/or mucous membranes. Since clinical criteria and histopathological characteristics are not sufficient for diagnosis, direct immunofluorescence microscopy of a biopsy...
متن کاملAutoimmune blistering diseases in females: a review☆☆☆
The autoimmune blistering diseases (AIBDs) are a group of heterogeneous skin diseases with autoantibodies directed against structural proteins in the skin. A new interest in the female bias towards autoimmune diseases in general has led to our attention to focus on how and why this female bias manifests in AIBD. The authors aim to review and explore the various aspects of AIBD affecting females...

were elaborated in the 90s [8, 9] . In the first years of the new millennium, prospective controlled studies comparing intravenous and subcutaneous applications of immunoglobulin concentrates were performed [10, 11] . Thereby, the safety and efficacy of SCIG in previously untreated PID patients, including children, was high [12, 13] . Today, several immunoglobulin concentrates at strengths of 1...
متن کاملNovel Therapies for Thyroid Autoimmune Diseases.
C-X-C chemokine receptor (CXCR)3 and its interferon(IFN)γ-dependent chemokines (CXCL10, CXCL9, CXCL11) are implicated in the immune-pathogenesis of autoimmune thyroiditis (AT), Graves disease (GD) and Graves Ophthalmopathy (GO). In tissue, recruited Th1 lymphocytes produce IFNγ, enhancing the tissue secretion of IFNγ-inducible chemokines, initiating and perpetuating the autoimmune process. Pati...
متن کاملBiologic therapies in autoimmune diseases.
Over the past decade, the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis has been revolutionised by the development of therapies targeted at molecules involved in driving the inflammatory response. This review briefly summarises the established uses of biologic therapies in rheumatoid disease, and outlines other diseases in rheumatology and other fields where biologic agents are finding a role.
